Ellen Park, the Lone Wanderer

There are ants here; anyone with the ability to scan for them will find them among the rubble and the ash. This would not be a good time to go into the basement...

The ground floor has a living room and a long set of precarious stairs with a railing. There is a low bookshelf with two or three readable books remaining on it and the cracked, burnt remains of a Radiation King television. The stove is more or less intact in the kitchen, and there are several packages of food in the refrigerator- deviled eggs, TV dinners, that kind of thing. There is also a bathroom with a well-stocked first aid kit.

Spoon looks around and starts fussing through things, "Upstairs first?"

Yuuno looks up from the bookshelf after slipping books into the large pouch at his waist. His opinion, considering the noises in the basement, of Spoons suggestion...

"Alright, start high and work down?"

Yuuno will fly behind Spoon when they go up the stairs, but that's just for a clear line of sight.

"Works for me, lad." he works his way upstairs, which contains a master bedroom, a smaller bathroom, and a child’s bedroom. The child’s bedroom has some toys and a rather well-preserved four-issue run of Grognak the Barbarian comics. The master bedroom has a computer in it that would work if there were any electricity here to speak of at all, a wardrobe with one of the doors hanging off its hinges, a blackened, burnt bed, and a locked metal case.

Yuuno has the DC, not AC, built into the staff. He's not going to be able to get the computer working either way.

"Do you want to try and open the box Spoon?" he offers, "I'm afraid I'd burn anything if I tried to cut it open."

It's those adventure archaeologist tendencies. They make him seem like a kleptomaniac with an urge to brag. Also, a large part of the reason why the Grognak's get slipped in the pouch too. Yuuno ends up moving some potions between pouches on his belt. Just to make sure there's room.

"I can do that." Spoon says, looking at it for a moment and flicking through vision modes. One of them makes him light up like a Christmas tree around the eyes. That one also results in a happy noise (it translates as chittering) "Bloody hell do I, it's a bleeding set of missiles an' launcher."

Cue the werewolf sitting down to start figuring out what he's got that will cut the box open.

Yuuno hopes it's something that is low temperature. If he uses the staff to cut the metal it would spray sparks all over the contents. Sparks plus missile launcher makes Yuuno wary.

It's the rime Yuuno's spent being at least involved in fights that sets him near the top of the stairs to keep watch. Spoon can smell and hear better than him, but sight reaches furthest and fastest, until there's something in the way...

Spoon is fine with that, and the Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch noise that eventually comes out is of alien metal proving it's superiority over human-made metal.

Um.

Yeah.

"Got it open Spoon?" asks Yuuno because, really, that's the kind of noise you expect from a forward opening a box.

That or explosions.

From:

"Got it, lad. Lets move on." he says cheerfully, joining the boy at the top of the stairs.

And it is off again with Spoon in the front and Yuuno behind ready to double team the next ant. It's good to be out, good to be doing something active. Even if it's pinning the opposition down while someone else pounds them into flaming bits of wreckage.

This is about the point where the radio headset crackles and gives way to Ellen's voice. "Spoon? Yuuno? Are you there?"

From:

"It's Ellen," says Yuuno before switching to transmit over the radio, "We're here Ellen. Does anyone need help?"

And things had been going so well too.

From:

"I... don't think so, no," Ellen's voice says carefully. "Val and Tanya found Bryan's father's body."

From:

"...oh," says Yuuno, "That's- poor Bryan. What-"

He swallows, "-what now Ellen?"

From:

"Hellboy and I told him," Ellen says soberly. "I'd like to go into that tunnel you saw and see if we can't track these things down to their source. If we can kill off the infestation, I'll feel a lot better about things."

From:

"I'm good with that. Tell her I'm good with that." Werewolf hearing + suit auds = ability to hear what Yunno is hearing.

From:

"Spoon's agrees with you Ellen," relays Yuuno, "And so do I. Do you want to meet up first?"

And, you know, hopefully catch this before the ants spread to far.

"That would be a good idea. Can you make it to where we split up? We'll meet you and the others there."

From:

Yuuno keeps an eye towards Spoon. Assuming there's no sign otherwise he'll reply.

"We should be there soon Ellen. Let us know if anything else comes up before then, please."

Spoon gives thumbs up.

Which may look weird with wristblades.

"Will do."

From:

Um.

Yes. Just a bit.

"Ready when you are Spoon," says Yuuno once the radio isn't transmitting anymore.

Spoon laughs softly and heads out again, "Be me eyes in the sky, lad. And watch yourself as well, never know when sommat'll come out a window."
