Ooc: Tenpenny *or* the Signal

I'm at a point in Ellen's plot when I can either have somebody get shot at by a sniper somewhere to the south, touching off my AU Tenpenny Tower plot, or I can have the radio mast go up and signal the vessel in orbit, triggering the alien starship plot. Who's interested in which?

I'm interested in both. I have a potential sniper and also potential alien starship people.

A'right. We're probably gonna do the starship plot first- there's not a lot of hostile aliens left, unless they're holed up on the ship a la Hiroo Onoda or something, which could potentially be arranged. Mostly the starship plot involves making sure certain things work, figuring out how to control other things, and then making a Horrifying Discovery that is Going To Have To Be Dealt With.

OK. I'm thinking rather than trying to coordinate everybody at once, I'll just do posts for small groups of people- would a post for Diana and Dinah to tag into be suitable for you? One that involved, say, running across a samurai with little to no English who had word of Very Bad Things getting ready to make a move elsewhere on the ship? I'll put the post up later today, if that's the case. It'll be a bit slow, fair warning.

Makes sense. I had a request for Michael Westen to get involved in the Tenpenny Tower plot as well, so if his player's up for it we'll schedule that- otherwise we'll probably want to wait a bit for Westen-mun's availability, and I'll do The Signal in the meantime.

And when the time comes for Evergreen Mills, I assume Voodoo will be up for that?

Pity indeed! ^__^ I could offer up Kate for the Tenpenny Tower plot as well (lord knows she's good at getting shot at), but I figured she'd be more helpful at herding people and offering support where needed. Up to you! I won't be offended if she doesn't fit either plot, just know that the offer is there.

Think you'd be good with Mark working alongside Sariel? I have a sudden urge to see Sariel and Elliott successfully unfreeze somebody and go on to the next tube only to find out the aliens kidnapped an especially homicidal supermutant or something...

Sure. Hit me with a big green guy. Does the game ever really define how strong a supermutant is? Fawkes obviously is stronger than a human, with his casual use of that hammer and heavy automatic weaponry, but are we talking strong as the strongest humans, with simply the mass to handle Gatling guns, or superhuman in ability.

I don't think we ever get an exact definition of their strength, only that it goes up as they get older (at least in Vault 87- I don't know if Marcus in FNV is appreciably stronger than he was in FO2). I once indicated in some narration that Fawkes was capable of carrying several hundred pounds of pack material at a respectable run for hours on end without becoming breathless (I usually assume that without troll storage tech, Ellen can't actually carry as much as the game says she can carry). So let's go with that level of strength/stamina assumption, and... I believe I said at one point that the mutant skin and bone structure is such that they can take a bullet or three to the head and just get mad, so there's some of that going on too.

Okay. Probably in the range of the Mauler Twins then (which are sort of supermutant-esque in appearance, except that they're blue). One of the things that's established in canon is that, while Mark is pretty much invincible to all but the most destructive attacks, he doesn't normally mass more than 170 lbs. He gets knocked around a lot by bigger bad guys in the comic. A supermutant will likely throw him around the room until he can get his feet under him (so to speak) and throw a punch.
