The door opens onto a long, narrow spit of rock. Brackish water rises on both sides. "Sorry about this," Ellen says, "but this was the easiest door for me to bring you through without either trying to navigate the swamps alone or taking the chance of running into the other two Paladins. We're at the entrance to a lighthouse off the southern shoreline of the swamp area right now. I'll show you my Pip-Boy map as soon as we're on proper ground."

"My companion and I were wondering- considering what this man's done, what would happen to him if we left him to the justice of his own people?"
"A favor we would owe, no doubt of that," says the woman. "He brings disgrace and wrath upon us all, seeking to consort with powers dire and gain himself forbidden craft and art."
"So you're saying your people don't consider th- the book he was using-" She'd been about to say this book and thought better of it. "-particularly sacred?"
"Sacred, that filth? Oh, please- don't make me laugh," the woman says. "Our ancestors lay down the sacred scripts; they brought them here two centuries long hence, when trapped by fire from heaven they became. The book he sought is foreign filth and vile, and if you're wise you'll burn it into ash."
She turns back to eye the whimpering man on the ground.
"Methinks that same fate we might offer him."

(Well, as close as one can get to whispering in someone's ear when there's a gas mask and a power helmet in the way.)
"Dunno 'bout you? But I'm feelin' a mighty urge to beat feet and never look back."

"Dogmeat, c'mon. Let's leave the nice lady alone, okay? I think she's going to be busy for a while."

He'd call the woman's attention to it, but - she seems pretty occupied with the beatdown she's giving that dude. And he's cool with that.
