The scene that presents itself to the people arriving from Milliways is one of devastation old and new. The shattered, weathered remains of what had once been a city street spill out to either side, and half-standing, half-slumping outer walls are all that remain of most of the buildings. There are no people here, no animals, no life to be seen...

Well, no. That's not necessarily true. Here and there, fires burn merrily, and the occasional scratching scuttling sound can be heard on the sullen August winds that wind through the empty streets.

"This is it," Ellen says. "Welcome to Grayditch."

It takes two. And it lets out the same weird cry before collapsing. But at least it's down for the count now.

While they're here Yuuno, like all good adventure archeologists, is going to look for anything interesting that's not nailed down before moving on. He'll likely end up passing most of it to Ellen when they meet up.

"Do you see anything interesting here Spoon?"

Spoon flicks in and out of vision modes (it's easier on the structure than tearing shit up), "Checkin'. Aught you're looking for in particular?"

"Anything that would tell us where survivors are or supplies mostly," says Yuuno, "I'm not finding anything here. If you don't either I guess we should move on."

"Next house it is." Spoon says, shaking his head, "Uh. What would you say is trophy? Head? Antenna?"

Yuuno tilts his head a bit a that.

"Head, I think?" he offers, "The antenna didn't actually threaten much."

They're both quite free to discuss this as they like, of course. The street, when they reach it, is empty of anything but fire and rusted-out cars- although they may hear the occasional crack of a rifle or a large-caliber handgun from the direction Hellboy and Ellen went.

Anyone with eyes to pierce the shadows even a little bit will notice things moving in the darkness beyond the foyer of the slightly more intact next house down, though.

Yuuno's in the rear, of course, as they head down.

"I hope everyone else is doing well," he says between shots. They still make him wince, just a little.

"Ants ahead." Spoon murmurs at the shifting ahead of them, "Be ready with your chain thingy. Got me trophy, from here out it's an extermination rather than a hunt. We'd get radioed if someone needed us."

Yuuno will wait for Spoon to give the signal then, "Chain Bind."

Then he'll hold that until the ant makes the death sound from Spoon pounding it with plasma.

Spoon is good with that. He also has to keep reminding himself that however good they are with really, really useful magic-thingies, ten-year-olds are not to be brought on Hunts just in case something actually needs to be tangled before it Hunts the Hunter. Because he's ten. And mum would murder Spoon.

"Lets start lookin' for survivors, don't smell any, and loot. Things. Shiny."

Yes, ten and Nanoha and Fate and Fate's mom would all get stressed too when it finally came out. The results would be hard on the landscaping at the Bureau.

They'll just move along into the next house then. Yuuno ready to throw out Binds while Spoon deals out the actual damage. Teamwork is a beautiful thing sometimes.

There are ants here; anyone with the ability to scan for them will find them among the rubble and the ash. This would not be a good time to go into the basement...

The ground floor has a living room and a long set of precarious stairs with a railing. There is a low bookshelf with two or three readable books remaining on it and the cracked, burnt remains of a Radiation King television. The stove is more or less intact in the kitchen, and there are several packages of food in the refrigerator- deviled eggs, TV dinners, that kind of thing. There is also a bathroom with a well-stocked first aid kit.

Spoon looks around and starts fussing through things, "Upstairs first?"

Yuuno looks up from the bookshelf after slipping books into the large pouch at his waist. His opinion, considering the noises in the basement, of Spoons suggestion...

"Alright, start high and work down?"

Yuuno will fly behind Spoon when they go up the stairs, but that's just for a clear line of sight.

"Works for me, lad." he works his way upstairs, which contains a master bedroom, a smaller bathroom, and a child’s bedroom. The child’s bedroom has some toys and a rather well-preserved four-issue run of Grognak the Barbarian comics. The master bedroom has a computer in it that would work if there were any electricity here to speak of at all, a wardrobe with one of the doors hanging off its hinges, a blackened, burnt bed, and a locked metal case.

Yuuno has the DC, not AC, built into the staff. He's not going to be able to get the computer working either way.

"Do you want to try and open the box Spoon?" he offers, "I'm afraid I'd burn anything if I tried to cut it open."

It's those adventure archaeologist tendencies. They make him seem like a kleptomaniac with an urge to brag. Also, a large part of the reason why the Grognak's get slipped in the pouch too. Yuuno ends up moving some potions between pouches on his belt. Just to make sure there's room.

"I can do that." Spoon says, looking at it for a moment and flicking through vision modes. One of them makes him light up like a Christmas tree around the eyes. That one also results in a happy noise (it translates as chittering) "Bloody hell do I, it's a bleeding set of missiles an' launcher."

Cue the werewolf sitting down to start figuring out what he's got that will cut the box open.

Yuuno hopes it's something that is low temperature. If he uses the staff to cut the metal it would spray sparks all over the contents. Sparks plus missile launcher makes Yuuno wary.

It's the rime Yuuno's spent being at least involved in fights that sets him near the top of the stairs to keep watch. Spoon can smell and hear better than him, but sight reaches furthest and fastest, until there's something in the way...

Spoon is fine with that, and the Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch noise that eventually comes out is of alien metal proving it's superiority over human-made metal.

"Got it open Spoon?" asks Yuuno because, really, that's the kind of noise you expect from a forward opening a box.

That or explosions.

And it is off again with Spoon in the front and Yuuno behind ready to double team the next ant. It's good to be out, good to be doing something active. Even if it's pinning the opposition down while someone else pounds them into flaming bits of wreckage.
