Ellen Park, the Lone Wanderer

The BOOM! isn't quite enough to kill Spoon's ant; these bastards are tough. It is, however, noticeably bleeding as it lunges towards Spoon, mandibles snapping. Yuuno's ant hasn't worked out that it can't get free yet, but it does seem to have noticed the taser- mostly because the legs on the side of its body where the prongs latched on just aren't working any more. Bad day to be a fire ant, we guess.

Yuuno's be more sympathetic if it wasn't, well spitting fire! He'll try to keep circling so he's not in front of either ant, or at least out of range while trying the taser again.

"You want me to try and bind yours Spoon?"

"No, no." Spoon says, lining up another shot and taking it, "Religious thing, lad. Unless I'm dying, don't help."

From:

This BOOM! is the fatal one for Spoon's ant. The fire it had started to spew dies as the ant lets out a wrenching, high-pitched scream, just before flying to pieces.

From:

Oh good, is Yuuno's main thought besides the repeating one about how the forwards are nuts. Ewwww will come after the fight a bit.

"Do you want me to release this one?" asks Yuuno is dubious tone. Frankly, he'd rather not take the chance.

From:

"Nah. That's yours." Spoon says, "Unless you want me to kill it for you?" it's an honest offer, honestly made, with no shame to Yunno if he'd rather not.

From:

The ten year old will take a moment and look at Spoon and then staff in his hands before going back to the giant ant.

"That would be fine Spoon, thanks."

From:

Spoon nods, and takes the time to line up a headshot.

Or two.

Whichever.

From:

It takes two. And it lets out the same weird cry before collapsing. But at least it's down for the count now.

From:

That's good, yes.

While they're here Yuuno, like all good adventure archeologists, is going to look for anything interesting that's not nailed down before moving on. He'll likely end up passing most of it to Ellen when they meet up.

"Do you see anything interesting here Spoon?"

From:

Spoon flicks in and out of vision modes (it's easier on the structure than tearing shit up), "Checkin'. Aught you're looking for in particular?"

From:

"Anything that would tell us where survivors are or supplies mostly," says Yuuno, "I'm not finding anything here. If you don't either I guess we should move on."

From:

"Next house it is." Spoon says, shaking his head, "Uh. What would you say is trophy? Head? Antenna?"

From:

Yuuno tilts his head a bit a that.

"Head, I think?" he offers, "The antenna didn't actually threaten much."

From:

They're both quite free to discuss this as they like, of course. The street, when they reach it, is empty of anything but fire and rusted-out cars- although they may hear the occasional crack of a rifle or a large-caliber handgun from the direction Hellboy and Ellen went.

Anyone with eyes to pierce the shadows even a little bit will notice things moving in the darkness beyond the foyer of the slightly more intact next house down, though.

Yuuno's in the rear, of course, as they head down.

"I hope everyone else is doing well," he says between shots. They still make him wince, just a little.

From:

"Ants ahead." Spoon murmurs at the shifting ahead of them, "Be ready with your chain thingy. Got me trophy, from here out it's an extermination rather than a hunt. We'd get radioed if someone needed us."

Yuuno will wait for Spoon to give the signal then, "Chain Bind."

Then he'll hold that until the ant makes the death sound from Spoon pounding it with plasma.

Spoon is good with that. He also has to keep reminding himself that however good they are with really, really useful magic-thingies, ten-year-olds are not to be brought on Hunts just in case something actually needs to be tangled before it Hunts the Hunter. Because he's ten. And mum would murder Spoon.

"Lets start lookin' for survivors, don't smell any, and loot. Things. Shiny."

Yes, ten and Nanoha and Fate and Fate's mom would all get stressed too when it finally came out. The results would be hard on the landscaping at the Bureau.

They'll just move along into the next house then. Yuuno ready to throw out Binds while Spoon deals out the actual damage. Teamwork is a beautiful thing sometimes.

There are ants here; anyone with the ability to scan for them will find them among the rubble and the ash. This would not be a good time to go into the basement...

From:

The ground floor has a living room and a long set of precarious stairs with a railing. There is a low bookshelf with two or three readable books remaining on it and the cracked, burnt remains of a Radiation King television. The stove is more or less intact in the kitchen, and there are several packages of food in the refrigerator- deviled eggs, TV dinners, that kind of thing. There is also a bathroom with a well-stocked first aid kit.

Spoon looks around and starts fussing through things, "Upstairs first?"

Yuuno looks up from the bookshelf after slipping books into the large pouch at his waist. His opinion, considering the noises in the basement, of Spoons suggestion...

"Alright, start high and work down?"

Yuuno will fly behind Spoon when they go up the stairs, but that's just for a clear line of sight.

"Works for me, lad." he works his way upstairs, which contains a master bedroom, a smaller bathroom, and a child’s bedroom. The child’s bedroom has some toys and a rather well-preserved four-issue run of Grognak the Barbarian comics. The master bedroom has a computer in it that would work if there were any electricity here to speak of at all, a wardrobe with one of the doors hanging off its hinges, a blackened, burnt bed, and a locked metal case.
